  • Bama Athreya has been a lifelong advocate for gender equality, child rights and economic and social justice.  Her current day job is Director for Global Advocacy at the International Center for Research on Women.  She previously held an Economic Inequality Fellowship at Open Society Foundations focused on workers in the gig economy.  Her interviews with gig workers around the world are featured in her previous podcast, The Gig, produced during the COVID pandemic between 2020 and 2022, when these essential workers began to organize for better protections and rights - and we all began to pay attention to their stories.
